Dalbavancin Hydrochloride (In Development)

Dalbavancin Hydrochloride is a semi-synthetic lipoglycopeptide antibiotic, belonging to the second-generation glycopeptide antibiotics and a new generation of long-acting anti-infective drugs. Its mechanism of action is to exert antibacterial effects by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial cell walls. It exhibits potent antibacterial activity against a variety of Gram-positive bacteria, with a definite efficacy especially against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). It may have activity against some susceptible subtypes of vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), and its use shall be based on the results of in vitro drug sensitivity tests.

Dalbavancin Hydrochloride is mainly indicated for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) caused by susceptible Gram-positive bacteria, such as cellulitis, abscesses and wound infections. With a long half-life (approximately 14 days), a single-dose or two-dose administration regimen can be adopted in clinical practice, which greatly reduces the frequency of administration and improves patient compliance.
